UK Breakin' members are working towards development opportunities. These will include accredited courses for teaching and learning. The work will be in partnership with other Breakin' organisations to ensure safe practice. See our partners below.
In the UK Breakin' falls into many sectors. It is a sport, this is the competition element. It is an art, we see this at showcases and Hip Hop Theatre for example. It is also a community activity, purposely putting inclusion at the heart of every activity to make sure that all in the community know there is a place for them in Hip Hop. To ensure that Breakin' can be accessible in every community we need to make sure as an activity we know where breakin's part is in sports, arts, community, health, education. Champion Breakin' in all its formats and be part of bigger conversations so Breakin' can find its true potential in the UK. We are discussing this further in our Sunday meetings.
All members are welcome to be involved in the shaping of the development opportunities and we look forward to sharing more information and what members are achieving soon...
Education Development is an ongoing development area for UK Breakin'. As part of this work we have developed, in collaboration with breakin' teachers/coaches and learners across the UK a 'Glossary of Terms' and this is leading into a development of an accredited course.
The Glossary of Terms
The new book has been produced to support the teaching, learning and assessment processes of UK Breakin' members, reflecting the UK's experiences of Breakin'.
There are Breakin' training sessions and classes taking place across the UK, and we advise all new learners to go to www.ukbreakin.org to find a teacher or training spot to learn the actions safely.
We will be working with teachers and judges to discuss and develop this book for future editions. We have worked in training spots in Wales, Scotland and England and welcome comments and feedback to improve for future editions.
We would like to collaborate with other breakers and other nations on Edition 2. If you'd like to get involved please email info@ukbreakin.org
Accreditation.
As a result of the Glossary of Terms, UK Breakin' members are starting to pilot ideas for an accredited and structured course. Discovering need for teachers to share good practice. Finding what elements of breakin' classes and training develop breakers for athletic, creative and community pathways.
Pilots are taking place across the UK in UK Breakin' hubs, and with partners such as Boy Blue Ent.
The pilots seek to explore a general level of young people's knowledge about breakin'. Set out goals to develop the foundation techniques, knowledge, performance, creative and analysis skills.
A a result of this pilot we are looking to work with more breakin; hubs, teachers, coaches, researchers to be able to peer support each other and collaborate with partners with other expertise to develop teaching and coaching practice from beginners to advanced breakers. We are seeking funding and sponsorship for this work and will keep you updated. To help shape this phase please get in touch info@ukbreakin.org
We will be working with Woosh Competition Management System® to record your competitive progress and journey. Woosh ensures that event organisers, competitors, invited artists and spectators all experience smoother, more transparent events. From organised schedules and battle brackets, to judging and live updates - Woosh provides all the tools needed to prepare and run a professional battle. In addition to its organisational tools, Woosh’s revolutionary judging system, will be employed as the UK Breakin's official judging system. Woosh CMS will allow the judge’s decisions to be unambiguous and will provide competitors with that all-important personal feedback from their battles. We will be in touch to explain the sign up process for competitors; stay tuned for more information.
Additionally, we offered training in 2021: Woosh will be providing videos which break down how the judging system works for future events that would like to get involved.

If you would like to attend future judging training please email info@ukbreakin.org
Please note that UK Breakin' Judges cannot take part in UK Breakin' events to earn a place on the league table as this would be a conflict of interest.
